My name is Chivon Obiri-Mainoo and I am the Founder and CEO of "The Real MVP". My belief is that with intention and focus, individuals can achieve Magnificent Vibrant Possibilities in life, especially with regards to their finances.

 

   From a young age, I learned how the lack of money management can affect people’s lives. This became my reality when after graduating from college with over $25,000 in student loan debt and a new car note; I realized to be successful with my finances I had to do the opposite of what everyone around me was doing; borrowing to spend. With this mindset, I adopted the “cash only” approach system.

 

   Simply explained, if I didn’t have the cash to pay for it now, I wouldn’t buy it now. Reading books such as The Millionaire Next Door and The Millionaire Mind, I realized I wasn’t too far off. Being newly married and having a combined debt load of over $100,000, I took the same discipline from being a former collegiate athlete and purposed to pay it off and be debt free within two years and I did exactly that. I realized that to amass wealth and change family legacies, one has to be diligent and disciplined to live their greatest life financially.

 

   I am the author of "YOUR MONEY|YOUR CHOICE", a thought-provoking guide to help individuals jumpstart their financial journey. Many times individuals are all jumbled up inside about the actual state of their finances. Through this guide, answering one question a day for 30 days will reduce the stress one has about their finances because by the end of it they will have a clearer picture of the actual state of their financial situation and hopefully move them to take action.

 

   I teach women and youth practical tips that they can immediately use to help get them their desired financial lifestyle. If we can teach our young people financial literacy as early as possible, it can change their financial destiny. I believe with anything, one must have discipline to achieve the desired results. Therefore, one can live the lifestyle they want without having detrimental effects to their financial future.

 

   I am a Certified Financial Educator through the National Financial Educators Council and a part of their Personal Finance Speakers Association. I obtained my MBA from Curry College and B.A from Clark University. In 2016, I was ranked in the top 98 of public speakers out of 25,000 contestants in the Toastmaster International speech competition. My professional career includes working in the Financial Service industry including investment performance, operations and investment advisory for over 10 years. I am currently pursuing my Certified Financial Planner designation. As a former collegiate basketball player, I love playing basketball and doing kickboxing during my spare time.
